Teachers’ Day Dinner in Istanbul | Bosphorus-View Dilruba Üsküdar

Some teachers say one sentence that lights our way for years. In Turkey, 24 November is Teachers’ Day (Öğretmenler Günü), a day to thank the teachers who taught us to be curious and changed our lives.

If you are looking for a place for a Teachers’ Day breakfast or dinner in Istanbul, Dilruba İstanbul, serving guests in Üsküdar’s Fethi Paşa Grove since 1996, can host your gathering with a view of the Bosphorus. Whether it is a quiet breakfast with a former teacher or a dinner for your whole school team, you will find a space and menu that fits.

Make Time for Your Teacher on 24 November

Meeting a former teacher after many years, inviting a teacher in your family to dinner, or sitting down with colleagues you have worked alongside all year: a small plan is enough. School memories shared at the table and a sincere “thank you” are what make the day special.

A Bosphorus-View Meeting in Fethi Paşa Grove, Üsküdar

Dilruba İstanbul is located inside Fethi Paşa Grove in Kuzguncuk, Üsküdar, on the Asian side of Istanbul. The green grove and a view that takes in all three Bosphorus bridges offer a calm setting in the middle of the city. All of our halls overlook the Bosphorus.

Getting here is easy from both sides of the city, and we offer free parking for around 100 cars.

Dilruba is an alcohol-free restaurant, which makes it a comfortable choice for school teams and family celebrations. Terrace seating in November depends on the weather; just mention your seating preference when booking.

Breakfast or Dinner?

In 2026, 24 November falls on a Tuesday. Dilruba is closed only on Mondays, so we are open on Tuesday from 08:00 to 23:00.

Breakfast gathering: Our open buffet breakfast is served every day except Monday from 08:00 to 14:00. The buffet has around 100 items, including breakfast classics, olive-oil dishes, hot egg dishes, börek pastries, honey with clotted cream (kaymak) and tea brewed in a traditional samovar.

Lunch or dinner: Our restaurant menu features kebabs, grills, stone-oven dishes and desserts. You can browse our restaurant menu for a general idea. Group menus may differ from the à la carte menu, so we recommend asking about current group menu options when you book.

Planning a Teachers’ Day Dinner with Your School Team

If you are organising a meal with fellow teachers or your school staff, we offer several options depending on the size of your group:

  • Bosphorus-view halls: Our large hall seats 150 guests (up to 160) and our small hall seats 60 (up to 70).
  • No minimum attendance on weekdays: There is no minimum number of guests for weekday group bookings. A minimum (100 guests for the large hall, 50 for the small hall) applies only if you want the hall reserved exclusively for your group.
  • Long tables for smaller groups: Smaller groups can be seated at a single long table in the restaurant area.
  • No hall rental fee: You pay only for the menu you choose.
  • Equipment for a thank-you speech: Our halls have air conditioning, a sound system, microphones and a projector.
  • Group menu options: From cocktail menus to grill menus, all of our group menus include a choice of dessert or cake. Menus change seasonally, so you can learn the current options when booking, or we can create a custom menu for you.

Before you call, it helps to decide on a few details:

  • Date and time: Choose a time that suits everyone’s teaching schedule and commute.
  • Number of guests: Share an approximate number and ask when you need to confirm the final count.
  • Menu and budget: Discuss a group menu or à la carte, and your budget per person.
  • Special needs: Let us know in advance about vegetarian, vegan, diabetic or coeliac guests and any allergies.
  • Cake and decoration: You can order a cake or dessert from Dilruba in advance. For food safety reasons, we do not accept outside food or drinks; flowers and decorations are welcome.
